I am not from the EU. Can I come to Cyprus and look for a job?

Not as a visitor. If you are not an EU, EEA or Swiss citizen, the employer applies for permission to hire you before you travel. You cannot arrange a work permit on your own.

  • The employer applies to the District Labour Office. The job can go to a non-EU worker only if no suitable Cypriot or EU worker is available.
  • Then the Migration Department issues an entry permit, which you need before you arrive.
  • Processing usually takes about four months. Companies of foreign interests can hire highly paid staff (at least €2,500 gross a month) faster, in about a month.

Some vacancies on CyprusJobs.eu are open only to people who can already work in Cyprus; they say so before you apply. The work permit guide explains the fees and routes.
